Album of the Week: Yonder Mountain String Band

Yonder Mountain String BandIf you've never heard of Yonder Mountain String Band, it's ok, lot's of people haven't. It's not your fault, but now that you have, you must take listen. This is one of the best live bands that exists right now. These guys are from all over the US but generally find themselves in Colorado. They are a Progressive Bluegrass band (much like Nickel Creek and several other contemporaries) but what makes these guys amazing are their live shows. Take a listen to some of the tracks on their website: Yonder Mountain String Band. One great fact about them is that once they were playing a show and the power went out and next thing you know - they switched to an acoustic set without skipping a beat. From covers to originals, these guys are quite the abominable bluegrass beast that you must have a moment to take a listen to.

Listen to several samples of their latest studio album. YMSB: Self-titled
Specific Tracks to listen to: East Nashville Easter, Classic Situation, Sidewalk Stars

Live on Into Tomorrow with Dave Graveline

On the air with Dave Graveline
Recently I appeared on Into Tomorrow with Dave Graveline on AM radio on the topic of Page Layout and Graphic Design. If you are interested in hearing the show here are the podcasts.

One of the most interesting topics is that I learned of a new type of liturature known as Trucker Literature which is, well basically, literature written by truckers. Granted, I've know a couple of truckers in my life and I must say that I heard some of the greatest stories I've ever heard from them. So this has to be an interesting new subgenre. Never forget, James Cameron was a trucker - so imagine this guy driving down the highway, on a late night stopping somewhere remote and encountering what inspired him to write....The Terminator! And, we shant forget some of the best phone calls ever on Coast to Coast AM.
